Onslow Dyke Realignment and Tidal Wetland Restoration Project

Walk starting at the horseshoe dyke at the eastern end to view the new dyke & aboiteau, then over to McCurdy Brook and down the access road to the mouth of the river where a large aboiteau had been removed to restore the river; walk continues along the breached dyke to a constructed tidal channel, across the restoration site to the large borrow pit and new realigned dyke, and then back to the cars. Learn more about habitat offsetting, tidal wetlands, dykeland management, realignment, restoration, tidal river/coastal processes, climate change, sea level rise and climate change adaptation.
